Mon. June 22, 2026
National championship Day!… Two freshman on the mound… No runs in the first-rare for this CWS… Oklahoma strikes first, scrapping runs together like they do… UNC gets one back, now 3-1 in the third… Both starting pitchers are out by the fourth, and here comes Caden Glauber for the Tar Heels!… Oh no for UNC: two straight walks to score a run… Then a Jaxon Willits two-run single for a 6-1 lead for the Sooners… Oklahama had 48 HR’s in their first 47 games, now have 46 HR’s in the last 19 games… Fifth pitcher for UNC, facing a 7-1 deficit… Clock is ticking on UNC, down 9-1 in the seventh, as Oklahoma is just playing outstanding baseball… Oklahoma with a 9-1 lead in the 7th inning of the CWS title game. Having a late, big lead knowing you’re most probably going to win a championship is one of the great underappreciated joys of sport… Kyle Branch’s three-run home run gives OU a 13-2 lead in the 8th… And that’s it – 13-2 Oklahoma. Jaxon Willits named MVP of the CWS.
Sun. June 21, 2026
Two runs right away in the first for Oklahoma – Is today the day to win a CWS title?… Hold, on: walk, single and triple (Jacob Schaffner) has tied it… And now UNC has taken the lead on a wild pitch… Oh Caden Glauber, he of the freshman who should-be-in high school, is blowing everyone away… Owen Hull with a long home run… Nicholson with a home run… UNC cruises to the 6-2 win… UNC is 29-0 when Glauber appears in a game… WINNER-TAKE-ALL on Monday night!!!
Sat. June 20, 2026
Game 1 of the finals… Game moved up due to impending hail… Deitan LaChance – what a joy to watch him play, as he hits a 2-run home run in the first inning… And of course, LaChance hits another HR on a pitch at his shoulders in the third… Oklahoma LHP freshman Cole Rager struggled with the first four batters, but has settled down… OU gets a walk, double, single, single, single for four runs. Up 7-3 after four… Lachance with another crazy hit, bringing rain, as LJ Mercurious closes it out… It took the grounds 1 minute, 31 seconds to get the tarp on following the final out.
Championship Preview
North Carolina (53-12-1) vs. Oklahoma (41-22)
UNC has rolled all season, and their pitching depth, team defense, and timely hitting has made them so consistent… Oklahoma started out 17-3, then went 16-18 the rest of the regular season, then in the postseason, have gone 8-1 while knocking out SEC champ Georgia, ACC champ Georgia Tech, and Big 12 champ Kansas.
Wed. June 17, 2026
Georgia has to beat Oklahoma twice… The best home run-hitting team, Georgia, is getting beat by home runs… Jason Walk and Trey Gambill and Dasan Harris go deep for an early 4-0 lead… Georgia cuts it to 5-3 in the sixth – we have a game… Hold on: Jaxon Willits double in seventh… Another Harris homer in the 8th… Another Walk homer in the 8th as well… Nobody (but Oklahoma) saw this coming, but they’re in the finals with their 11-4 win.
Big Day: The weather is making everyone happy in Omaha, but lack of pitching depth at this point of the tournament is dampening the mood for West Virgina… Well-rested UNC has jumped out to a 8-1 lead after four as they can feel a berth in the championship… UNC is relentless, and while West Virginia never gave up and scored a bunch late, this is absolutely UNC’s time, and they deliver a berth to the finals with a 12-7 win.
Tue. June 16, 2026
24,824 in attendance for this big elimination game between Texas and Georgia… The third-inning sac bunt by Kolby Branch was only the third sac bunt by Georgia this season… The Texas no-hitter was broken up by superstar Tre Phelps with an RBI double in the fifth… Closer of the Year Sam Cozart had back luck with a blooper that snow-coned out of the center-fielder’s glove after a dive, a roll, and a video overturn, then a weak single to second base to beat the shift, then a pop-up on the left-field foul line where the SS and LF collided and Ryan Black tagged and was safe at the plate in a very close play… Justin Byrd was extraordinary in relief for the win with 5.0 innings, two hits, 4 K’s and 0 runs for the 2-0 win.
Day 3 – Another perfect day of weather for an elimination game… 21,824 in attendance, the lowest so far this series… Armani Guzman keeps stealing with his third of the day to have 42 on the season… Each relief pitcher for West Virginia keeps shutting out the big bats of Troy… The West Virginia second baseman and catcher hasn’t really been noticed in this World Series before today, even though the sophomore Gavin Kelly is one of the very best players in the country. They might know a little bit more about him after day, when he had three hits and four RBI and a big home run as West Virginia ends Troy’s dream season with a 12-0 win…
Mon. June 15, 2026
Day 4: Amazing that brothers Kolby Branch from Georgia and Kyle Branch from Oklahoma get to play against each other… The first time in CWS history… Texas Longhorn fans got their money’s worth today with a cycle from shortstop Adrian Rodriguez and a 13-2 romp of Alabama to stave off elimination… All three Georgia runs were on home runs… Georiga’s Caden Aoki threw threw the second complete game for Georgia in the CWS… Xander Mercurius kept the big-hitting Georgia team with 7.1 innings and 9 K’s on 104 pitches… The first game-on-the-line ending of the series with Daniel Jackson flying-out with the tying run on second for the Oklahoma 4-3 win.
Day 4: Another team will be eliminated… Texas has shown up to play today, with a blitz of seven runs in the first two innings… Texas SS Adrian Rodriguez’s liner to left-center that got back by outfielders, was changed from a single and error, to a triple… That triple just came in handy as Rodriguez completes the cycle… Just the third cycle in CWS history, joining Tennessee’s Christian Moore, and legendary college baseball figure Jerry Kindall from Arizona… Alabama heads home after the 14-2 loss.
Sun. June 14, 2026
A perfect evening for UNC vs. West Virginia here in Omaha… 6:12 first pitch… Tied 2-2 in the fifth in a chess match with each team responding with some outstanding defensive plays… Double play to get out of the inning – oh no, error, then a two-run triple for UNC to take a 4-2 lead in the 7th. Cruel game… Caden Glauber throwing all 97’s to close out the win, 5-2, over West Virginia… 24,414 in attendance.
The first elimination game, Troy vs. Ole Miss… As heard in the hallway underneath the stadium, “Someone has to go home. They all can’t stay for two weeks.”… Perfect 70 degrees… The Baseball Village featuring food, music and booths cross the street is just packed with people… The ball is flying a bit here today in the early going… Indeed, six home runs so far, three by Troy and three by Ole Miss…. Troy has just wowed the crowd with 10 runs in the last four innings to take a 12-8 lead going into the ninth… Troy continues their dream season of knocking off big-time teams, beating Ole Miss, 12-8, in front of 24,014 fans cheering on the underdog.

Oklahoma vs. Alabama… Hailstorms in the morning, but field is ready to go… First pitch at 3:09…Two run double by Trey Gambill puts Oklahoma on the board… Great diving play and throw to 1B by Oklahoma 3B Camden Johnson… Deiten LaChance twisted his ankle bad at 2B in the first inning, but in the 6th, he hit a bomb over the bullpen in left and limped/celebrated around the bases… Cord Rager dealt 7 outstanding innings with 3 hits, o walks, 8 K’s, 88 pitches, 0 runs… Stat of the Day: SEC schools hit .308 against non-conference opponents, while only .260 in conference games… Oklahoma wins easily, 9-0… Attendance, 24,579.
Fri. June 12, 2026
Game 2: Ole Miss vs. North Carolina: First pitch 7:10 EST, perfect weather, wind blowing in, packed house… Taylor Rabe blowing 97 on the mound for Ole Miss… North Carolina’s Jason DeCaro is only 94… Tight pitcher’s duel but the stadium stayed loud thanks to tarps off from youth baseball players from Lubbock, Texas in the left-field bleachers… Judd Utermark hits a 3-0 pitch in the gap for the Ole Miss lead… UNC takes the lead back in the 7th with a Gavin Gallaher single, before Colin Hynek made the UNC fans explode with a three-run bomb in the 8th… UNC freshman Caden Glauber should be graduating from high school this week, but instead was closing out the game for the Tar Heels… 24,883 fans packed in.
Lots of nervous energy and excitement for Game 1 between first-time-ever CWS teams West Virginia and Troy… The anthem concluded with a flyover from stealth bombers… First pitch of first game at 2:04… First run – a thrilling steal of home by West Virginia’s Armani Guzman… It’s hot in the stands, but the West Virginia fans are everywhere and bringing the same energy they had in Morgantown in the regionals and super regionals… Only 2.6 innings in to the 2026 CWS and we’ve already had a steal of home, a diving play at third, a two-run double off the wall, a seed just past the pitcher’s face, an error, and an old school sac bunt… Add a pitching change by West Virginia to that… And now a home run by WV… Everyone’s settled in a bit now and the scoring has quieted down, until Troy ties it on a home run. 5-5 after seven… A wild hop over the Troy 1B’s head, gives West Virginia a 7-5 lead… In the 9th, the wind switched to blowing in and Aaron Piasecki’s home run bid dies at the track… West Virginia closes it out for the first win of the 2026 CWS… Attendance: 24,154.
