The continually predicted demise of baseball is simply untrue. Baseball (and softball) is growing and thriving in America, a testament to the power of the game, as well as the hard work of millions of kids and adults and coaches and parents.
The Sport and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) released it’s 2025 Topline Participation Report, and reported some amazing numbers, particularly in youth baseball.
Casual Baseball participation has increased 123% since 2014.
Baseball and softball combined are the most-participated team sports among kids age 6-12 over the past five years.
Baseball among 6-17 year-olds has the highest mark on record at 8.49 million participants- an increase of 27% since 2014.
There are 26.5 million participants in baseball and softball in the United States – an increase of 17% since 2014.
