A great day of baseball in the winter-time took place at the annual Cape Cod League Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on Nov. 16, 2025 at the Wequasset Resort on Cape Cod.
The event was a clear reminder of the power of the Cape Cod League experience, be it for the fans who get to watch games after a day at the beach, for the best college players in the nation scrapping for a chance at pro baseball, for the interns learning their craft, for the staff making everything first class, and for the coaches for whom coaching in the Cape is a profound experience.
While the Cape had another banner year from alums like Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes and Jeff Kent earning the highest of MLB honors, the Hall of Fame serves to recognize those who helped create their grand history.
Leading the way en route to the majors were 2011 Cape MVP Travis Jankowski (Bourne/Stony Brook) and 2019 Cape MVP Nick Gonzales (Cotuit/New Mexico State). Gary Alexander (Orleans/Arizona) was the 1986 Playoff MVP after winning the CWS championship game on the mound; the 1999 Outstanding Pitcher Pat Pinkman (Wareham/Old Dominion); William Walker (Chatham/Wesleyan) who was the 1957 batting champion; and Bob Stead, a long-time coach, manager, and Commissioner of the Cape Cod League.
Other awards were bestowed including the Peter Gammons Award to Larry Egan, the Lifetime Achievement Award to Gary Ellis, and the Executive of the Year Award to Ted Lekas.
The highlight of the day was moving speeches from the inductees, current Cape League President Andrew Lang, celebrated writer Peter Gammons, and Doug Stead, son of former commissioner Doug Stead.
